Runner Up from “The Apprentice“ Launches a New Dating App
Following a Six-Figure Crowdfund

The runner up to “The Apprentice” in the UK, entrepreneur Vana Koutsomitis, is now launching her new dating app (February 14th… also known as Valentine’s Day). This has come about thanks to the outstandingly successful crowdfunding campaign that took place last year.

The app DatePlay aims to create a more "playful" outlook to the concept of online dating. It works by matching singles in accordance with their answers to a variety of quizzes (a la Buzzfeed). Some of the questions include things like, “Which is your favourite politician?” and "When did you last make the first move?".

The quizzes themselves have been partially developed with the help of a psychologist. The aim is to create snapshots of a user’s personality which then helps to create a user profile. This will allow them to connect with other singles who are nearby and with those who have a range of similar personality traits and various preferences that complement one another.

This app launch arises after a crowdfunding drive that the London start up began on Seedrs last year. It initially had a target of £120,000 however they managed to smash this and end up reaching £210,000. Vana Koutsomitis, who has an MBA from Oxford, announced, "The world is full of seriousness and stress at the moment, so we wanted to bring something light-hearted and fun to the market."

"During these intense times, it’s easy to get overwhelmed and stressed out. DatePlay is here to take the edge off. We want people to play on a daily basis to find love."
