7 Ways to Spot a Fake Profile

Online dating has been a wonderful place for millions of people to find their soul mate. However, that does not mean that everyone who has an online dating profile is 100% honest. It is very possible to come across fake profiles or dishonest people. Avoiding them completely may not be possible, but the Huffington Post has written an a handy guideline for spotting fakes on online dating sites. Here is what to look out for:
1.) The person won't video chat.
Video chatting with a person you met online is totally normal practice for dating sites. If the person you are talking to won't cam up, then this person is trying to hide something.
2.) If all the digital pieces don't fit.
Most everyone today has some kind of digital presense. Facebook page, youtube profile, twitter account. If the person doesn't have these things, that person might not be telling you all there is to know abou them.
3.) Check public records.
Do some background checks on search engines.
4.) Do they show real time pics of themselves?
Ask for on demand pics during conversations.
5.) Do they appear to have real friends and work colleagues?
Check to see if they have a facebook or LinkedIn pages.
6.) Ask specific questions.
See if they have answers to specific questions are do they try to change the subject.
7.) Do their stories match up?
Make sure that you are paying attention to the details. If they say they have no siblings but one time in a conversation, they mention something about their sister, this could be a sign of a fake story.
