From Online Dating to STIs!
Sexually transmitted diseases are nothing new, but now due to growing use of online dating portals, the illnesses are back on the march.
Recently the German government has issued a warning concerning this issue. In accordance with their statement, the number of syphilis infections from 2009 to 2014 has doubled! In 2014 about a thousand new cases of HIV as well as Hepatitis B and C have arisen.
The story is as old as humankind. You meet that sexy someone, but don’t know that well enough so you starting investing a bit of time in it. Your affections get stronger and you start to know one another better. The end result: a one night stand and possibly also a sexually transmitted disease, if you haven’t used the right protection.
While this may have been a single case a couple of years ago, it is nowadays a much more widespread problem. The internet has made people a lot more mobile and online dating allows for the loss of inhibitions. Now dating apps, which provide quick erotic contact, allowing people to meet up for sex. This isn’t a problem in and of itself, but rather it appears that a lot of users are throwing caution to the wind. Condoms are important in order protect yourself! Due to this neglect, STIs are spreading like wildfire and have become a huge worldwide phenomenon.
